Linking adverbs
however, therefore, moreover, otherwise, in addition…: nối ý giữa hai câu, dạng bài quen thuộc của TOEIC Part 6.
Từ nối (however, therefore, moreover…) cho biết quan hệ giữa câu trước và câu sau: thêm ý, đối lập, kết quả… Khác với liên từ (and, but, so), từ nối không dùng dấu phẩy để nối hai mệnh đề trong cùng một câu.

Cách chọn từ nối
- Đọc câu trước và câu sau chỗ trống.
- Xác định quan hệ giữa hai câu: thêm ý, trái ngược, kết quả, ví dụ, trình tự hay điều kiện.
- Chọn từ nối đúng nhóm, rồi kiểm tra dấu câu.

Từ nối không nối hai mệnh đề bằng dấu phẩy; dùng dấu chấm hoặc dấu chấm phẩy.

Trước danh từ thì dùng giới từ in addition to.
✗ Please hurry, otherwise we will be late.
✓ Please hurry; otherwise, we will be late.
otherwise là từ nối; hoặc dùng liên từ or: Please hurry, or we will be late.
