Đại từ bất định; another, other, the other (Indefinite pronouns; another & other)

Đại từ bất định

	some-	any-	no-	every-
người	someone, somebody	anyone, anybody	no one, nobody	everyone, everybody
vật	something	anything	nothing	everything
nơi chốn	somewhere	anywhere	nowhere	everywhere

Động từ đi sau luôn chia số ít: Everyone is here. / Nobody knows the answer.
some- dùng trong câu khẳng định, any- trong câu phủ định và câu hỏi, giống some / any (xem Lượng từ: some, any, much, many, few, little…).
Tính từ đứng sau đại từ bất định: something new, anyone interested, nothing important.
Thêm else nghĩa là "khác": someone else, anything else.

Anyone interested should contact the HR department.

Có ai quan tâm thì liên hệ phòng nhân sự nhé.

Has everyone received the email?

Mọi người đã nhận được email chưa?

Is there anything else?

Còn gì nữa không ạ?

Khi thay thế cho someone, everyone, tiếng Anh hiện nay thường dùng they / their: Someone left their umbrella.

Thay cho danh từ đếm được đã nhắc trước, để khỏi lặp lại: one cho số ít, ones cho số nhiều.

I don't like this laptop. Can I see a cheaper one?

Tôi không thích cái máy tính này. Cho tôi xem cái nào rẻ hơn được không?

The new chairs are more comfortable than the old ones.

Ghế mới ngồi êm hơn ghế cũ.

Cả hai đều nghĩa là "lẫn nhau", dùng thay cho nhau được: The team members help each other. So sánh với đại từ phản thân ở Đại từ phản thân.

Thêm một cái (số ít) thì dùng another.

Trước danh từ số nhiều dùng other.

Đứng một mình, không có danh từ theo sau, thì dùng others.

everyone, someone, nobody… đi với động từ số ít.
